Actual Day Wedding Photography - Go Pro or Do-it-Yourself

Pictures are powerful reminders of the important events of our lives. Before digital cameras became ubiquitous, in Singapore, engaging a professional wedding day photographer was a no-brainer.

These days, with the proliferation of cheap (but advanced semi-professional DSLR) some Singapore couples are opting to DIY - i.e. get friends to do it.  On the surface, this seems like a good idea as modern cameras are so advanced that taking technically perfect pictures is almost guaranteed. Even if that great shot was off, some digital imaging work can always sort it out.

Unfortunately, wedding photography is not about taking technically good shots for the purpose of recording an event. Wedding photography is about capturing fleeting but meaningful moments. And this, in my opinion, is where the professional wedding day photographer comes in.

In fact, during my time (when I used to shoot professionally) it was the wedding photographer who helped guide the couple through the day. After all, we have literally "attended" hundreds of weddings and the procedures are second nature to us.

So to couples who think that they can DIY this job, I say think again. A wedding is a once in a lifetime event and engaging a professional ensures that you capture those iconic moments. Additionally, you will also be getting a wedding advisor in the package .... ;p
