For the Singapore bride, choosing a pre-wedding photographer in Singapore can be complicated. This is because the majority of bridal packages come "bundled" with pre-wedding photography services.
The reason is simple. In the entire wedding service industry, pre-wedding photography is the most profitable in terms of effort and production cost. It is therefore not surprising that the wedding industry is built around the selling of pre-wedding photos. Revenue from pre-wedding photographs can account for as much as 50% of the boutiques' profits.
Complications arise when a bride likes the wedding dress of one boutique and the wedding photography of another. While one can argue that the boutique with the wedding dress should be happy to profit from its sale or rental, the margins are nonetheless small. To compensate, some boutiques will charge the bride a premium for gown rental. In fact, there are even boutiques that outright reject the rental of dresses for photography by "outside" photographers.
So what can a bride do when faced with such a situation? In the simplest of scenarios, the bride simply pays the premium. But what if the bridal boutique does not agree to rent its gown? The option is then to take a made-to-measure package with the boutique with the photographer you want and then ask for a wedding dress made to the design of the dress you want. Sure, the dress might not be exactly the same, but it will be close. The point is that it is easier to replicate a wedding dress than it is to replicate a photographer's style.
In SG Wedding Guru's opinion, the choice of the wedding photographer should take priority over the choice of gown.
